Once again, Hiro-kun prove himself as one of the favorite figure in my encyclopedia. Though I will be missing his performance in J-dorama, but I am more fascinating that he is now a writer. He left his agency to pursue his writing career. Honestly, I was hoping that he will continue to be an actor, and I guess that his acting in several doramas was improved quite well year by year. Moreover, he step into the big screen, played a main role in Beck movie last year. I was hoping that he was going to play more roles that will test his skill in acting and become one of the most great actor in Asia, or even in the world, like my favorite-great-actors; Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp. But I guess I have to give up my hope now. However, his decision to leave his acting career is something that I should have been predicted before.
From some magazine articles about him, I feel like he is not actually enjoyed being a very popular person. He is not like other guy-next-door who mostly realizes how good looks he is, or being proud that people recognized him as a good-looking star. Back then, he step into the acting world because he was not comfortable being a model, being judged by others by his looks only. I'm sure he tried his best to dig his acting skills and perform his best to show the audience that he was not rely on his looks to be a good actor.
I can say that his acting is great, but I'm sure it will be a biased opinion, because I like his outer appearance. He is good looking, cool, and attractive to me. His character in Tokyo Dogs catch my attention, and I admire him since I watched Hana Kimi (FYI, I watched Tokyo Dogs before Hana Kimi). To me, his acting is good. Good enough. But then again, I realized my opinion is biased. And if I bring aside my subjective appraisal, I feel like he needs to improve his acting. So, to be honest, his acting is on average rank. I don't know how he played as Ryusuke Minami in his last appearance, Beck, because I can't find the movie in my country yet. So I was hoping that he could improve his acting and be a great actor who will be known by his ability, not by his looks.
But then he stop acting. He left the agency that play big role on his name. I'm sure he has thought about it very seriously. Maybe he felt that acting is not his 'thing'. Maybe being a writer is his true calling. Or maybe he is just trying a new life, like he first once step into modelling career, and into acting career. Maybe he is just still looking what his true calling is. Whatever that is, I am really excited hearing that he already released his fiction book Kagerou on last month. I hope the book will be available in English, and I can have it very soon. All of this time, Hiro-kun seems like an introvert person, so by this book I hope I can dive into his mind, and explore his ideas and thoughts and feelings from the words he was written. Indeed, Hiro-kun deserved to be admired, at least by me, for his humility not to be bigheaded with his popularity, but to pursue something that he feels his true calling.
